Good Monkey / Bad Monkey

Thanks to David Aldridge or perhaps more important, his son Fred, for the monkey pictures.

Good Monkey?

Bad Monkey?

I think he’s probably a good monkey.

  1. Doug, as a member of RSPCCT (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Cuddly Toys I am worried by the trends shown in your Blog – alcohol abuse by obviously under-aged monkey, lack of seatbelts when travelling by car, probably no sun block on the beach and as for that movie clip!

    1. I know, I know, but do you know how much it costs to have 7 rear seat-belts fitted?

If it’s any consolation, I have tomorrow afternoon off so we’re thinking of taking them all to Edinburgh Zoo. They’re very keen to see the new baby lion cubs. And the merekats.

  2. I object to that.

    Whaddyamean, “mere cats”??!!

As all cat-lovers know, cats are the top of the food chain, and there’s nothing ‘merely’ about them. They eat monkeys for breakfast, incidentally. Especially wine-sozzled ones that can’t stagger straight.

I kind of feel sorry for any South African suricate that inadvertently finds itself in Edinburgh, though…

    1. Oh, for the love of … Don’t start that!

I’m already the Wicked Wizard of the North for blocking all ‘cat requests’. Cats are the best. Unfortunately we live in rented furnished accommodation and I’ve never met a cat yet who could give a monkey’s about a landlords unreasonable demands to have the flat returned the way we found it.

We’ll get one eventually, though. It’s a war of attrition and I’d back the female and the animals to win in the end.

  3. I just find it really alarming that I’m actually getting curious, as we reach the end of July, who’s going to replace Polly Piggy as Housemate of the Month…

    1. They draw lots on the last day of each month, so I’ve no way of knowing, but there are plenty more where she came from.

  4. > And the merekats.

I remember the time when I saw some meerkats at our local zoo, Drusillas’ in Sussex. It was the day after New Years’ Day, it had just snowed and they were all huddling around a light bulb, trying to stay warm. A “home away from home” obviously.
