I only noticed when I woke up this morning that paragraph breaks have disappeared on this blog. I haven’t been working on the formatting, so it’s pretty annoying to say the least. Then I realised what probably caused it. I was experimenting again with importing this blog to wordpress.com because I was going through my latest flirtation with a move. I don’t really want to move, but there seem to be a few advantages there.
One of the things WordPress’ import utility does is disable and re-enable some blog settings. It looks like it’s stuffed up my template 🙁
I’ll fix it as soon as I can, but work comes first, I’m afraid.
More worrying still, I’ve tried copying the template from the ISP4400 blog over this one and it hasn’t helped 🙁
Now that’s *really* disconcerting. I’ve replaced the template with one of the default Blogger templates and it hasn’t fixed things. Which means that the problem is in the entries themselves or (hopefully) some wider Blogger problem?
Oh, and seeing how it’s screwed up my Blogger blog, you might as well take a look at the WordPress version while you’re bored. It looks very pretty, but code display in that template is useless.
The whole *point* of a blog is that I don’t have to mess around with formatting too much.
Sigh.

Check what is you see is really there – use the browser refresh button!
And when changing templates the whole blog needs to be republished

I’ve tried everything like that – lots of times. It’s a good job I’m working late tonight so can go in a bit later this morning 😉
When I’m editing the blogs, they look fine, then as soon as I publish them, they’re screwed up.

The WordPress Import utility had left ‘Convert Line Breaks’ set to No, rather than Yes.
Hopefully there aren’t any other little problems for me to discover 😉
Regarding your code display in your wordpress.
I’ve stuck a
code, pre { font-size:small !important; padding:1px !important; background:#eef; }
in the chrome\userContent.css of my Firefox profile directory, and it makes the code a little more readable.
However it still doesn’t wrap or extend at the margin.
What is so good about wordpress.com_

Thanks for the info. I’ve had a look round and it just looks like I can’t use the template I want to on hosted WordPress. I’m thinking this over still.

There are lots of little bits and pieces, but nothing fantastic, otherwise I would have probably moved by now. I’m very loathe to change anything, to be honest, so I might just play with my Blogger template – but I’m no designer! 😉
