A Couple of Articles

Over the past week, I noticed a couple of interesting Oracle-related articles.

The first is Tom Kyte’s regular column in Oracle magazine. Tom’s stuff is invariably good, but I particularly liked this column because it discusses one fundamental topic – joins and the different approaches and query plans and a slightly more esoteric topic – strange side-effects of DBMS_STATS – and explains them extremely well, with the usual detailed illustrations.

The second is in the current edition of Oracle Scene, the magazine of the UKOUG. In the News section at the end is a report of the Blogger’s dinner at the last UKOUG. It makes an interesting read, but frankly I think it’s shocking that there’s a link to Danish johnny-come-latelys who didn’t even *have* a blog at the time of the dinner, when my blog is completely overlooked! I bet it’s that Mark Rittman that’s to blame 😉 I can forgive him, though, because he managed to get the Lisa Dobson/Tom Kyte water incident into print, possibly for the first time.

Actually, there are quite a few interesting-looking articles in there, but I haven’t had time to read them yet.
