I noticed the following blog as an incoming link on Statcounter
http://oracletoday.blogspot.com/
When I went to take a look, it turns out that SQL*Net message from client had been a blog subject back in September. It’s worth taking a look at another example of how this ‘idle’ event can be a sign of problems in some circumstances. I’m posting this as a seperate blog to give it more visibility, but I’ll add it in the comments to the 10046 blog as well for anyone who arrives there directly.
I must call this the Doug Burns Effect 🙂. Number of visitors is increasing after your post. Seems i must post frequently, i was not able to do that because of time constraints.
Cheers Yas. It was nice to see someone facing the same real world issue.
Now y’all know why Statspack sorts idle events to the bottom of the wait list, but doesn’t filter them out altogether. They still serve a purpose from time to time.
