Now I realise that some of you may think that this is Treelo (I think he’s called) from children’s TV, but bear with me.
Bill turned up in the post one day. He was parcelled a bit tightly so he’s looked a bit strange ever since, but he was a present from my mate Dave Whiting from Newcastle. I think it was to say thanks for taking him to a Celtic v Newcastle game in Glasgow. Dave thinks he’s funny and so he thought he’d pick the grumpiest looking cuddly toy in cuddly toy history.
Ever since Bill made himself comfortable in my living room all he has done is moan his head off!! He insists that someone of his age should be treated with some respect which might be a little easier if he didn’t just sit around doing nothing all day, watching sport, drinking beer, demanding food and making fairly sexist remarks in the presence of my better half. In short, he’s a pain in the neck, but we’ve eventually grown to tolerate him. He has his moments. This is his 15 minutes of fame, but I think I’ll need to spare you all having to look at his bizarre features for more than a week or two. (Don’t start me on how difficult this picture was to take, either. I’ve never heard such moaning in all my life.)
Oh, the kids TV connection? Well, Bill has a rough Geordie accent and very down-to-earth habits (to say the least) so you can imagine our surprise when we were flicking through channels one day and came across this. Bill’s a closet ac-tor! With a stupid, squeaky effeminate voice! He denies it’s him but we’ve never let him forget 😉
