I’ve been having a good time over the past day or two. Yesterday I gave the PX presentation to the Scottish branch of the OUG. As usual, I ran way over so I’m going to have to stop trying to ‘do’ PX in 45 minutes. I wasn’t that happy with it (as usual). I should really get a different presentation together soon. As usual, I saw a few familiar faces in the audience, which is a key part of the OUG for me.
The best bit was meeting some more people the evening before. I’d seen Niall and Mogens around, although never met them properly (i.e. over beers) which made the chat about the ‘Oracle community’ more enlightening, funny and aggressive (no lawyers hovering around in an Edinburgh pub to worry us) but it was the first time I’d met Mark Rittman. He turned out to be a great guy, as I’d imagined from his blog. I didn’t get to see his presentation because I opted for the first of Mogen’s two very funny presentations instead, but I’m looking forward to watching him do his thing at a conference in future. I’ve still got to find out what team he supports anyway, because he was mumbling something about football.
I suppose Mogens stole the limelight, however, with his extremely effective Highland Dress. It’s just a shame I had to go back to work after the OUG meeting and didn’t get a chance to see him expose himself on the Royal Mile.
Then again, maybe it’s for the best …
