Oaktable Network

I received an invitation to join the Oaktable Network which I’ve decided to accept. It wasn’t a straightforward decision but went something like this. (Oh, and by the way, this blog could have been much longer!) For I like the Oaktable members that I’ve met to date and found them very passionate and generous individuals.… Continue reading Oaktable Network

Old Classics

While out shopping yesterday, I noticed this for 10, which was a no-brainer. It’s the best tenner I’ve spent in a long, long time and the only down-side is the two of us having to prise ourselves away from it long enough to make food, eat, sleep etc … Although many of the games work… Continue reading Old Classics

Solaris 10 and Oracle 10g

Very true and very appropriate to my recent work. Perhaps the questioner should take the number 1.53215 and display… Continue reading Benchmarking

PX and “the Magic of 2”

Now that I’ve had time to sit back and relax and absorb things a little, I thought I should fix a couple of outright bugs in the recent PX paper (Later update – link to the paper) and revisit the conclusions before moving on to testing different aspects. First, the bugs :- I’ve changed processes… Continue reading PX and “the Magic of 2”

Lucky Escape

When I left for the US, Edinburgh was covered in snow. It returned yesterday to the extent that Edinburgh airport was closed for a while. The Continental flight in from New York was diverted to Belfast. Now that would have been fun 🙁
