A few beers later, we left to meet Thomas Presslie and some of the Miracle guys for a few more before I had to catch my train back to Edinburgh. Fortunately, the first batch of beers didn’t appear on Jeff’s bill. Unfortunately, I walked out of the bar without my coat and the bag containing the notes for my presentation. Apparently they’re lost forever.

Those Miracle guys are pretty special – taking the car ferry and a long drive to deliver an Oak Table for the event. Of course, they will insist on cabling up European power supplies, but that probably reflected the needs of the majority 😉

My first day was largely given over to attending Jonathan Lewis’ CBO masterclass in the morning and meeting up with old friends in the afternoon.

Although I’d seen a lot of Jonathan’s material at other events and in his book, it was a relief to sense how well it’s all started to sink in to my aging grey matter. I think Jonathan was a bit concerned about the lack of audience response to his jokes and prompts for questions. I’m pleased that we were discussing this with a fellow Scot who was able to confirm that we can be an undemonstrative bunch at times and people were probably reluctant to make a show of themselves in public. Obviously I’ve travelled too much, because I’m more comfortable making an idiot of myself 😉 In any case, the material was excellent and I’m pretty sure the audience lapped it up (quietly). I know a few people who attended who confirmed as much.

Most of the rest of the day was given over to several beers with friends new and old. I was much keener on the Tuesday agenda, to be honest, but had a minor panic over the insubstantial state of my presentation so I decided to take this morning off. I’ll miss out on some presentations I’m sure I would have enjoyed, but it’s more important that I don’t mess up my own!

Now that I’m much happier with the presentation, I’ll be heading through to Glasgow on the train soon.

I originally tried to post this yesterday but lost my internet connection at a crucial moment 🙁 On Sunday evening I met up with Jeff Moss, Julian Dyke and Tom Brown in the bar of the Radisson.
