I’d suggested to Paul Vallee that maybe I could continue them.

I obviously planted a seed in his head and, on my last full day, we discussed continuing our working relationship and I was really chuffed when we decided to carry on on a part-time, occasional basis. I think I might also be able to contribute to process definition, documentation and consulting on working methods in a rapidly expanding company, because those are strengths of mine (i.e. I’m the old curmudgeon! Well, maybe that word’s a little strong 😉) I hope there’ll be occasional technical work too but Pythian already have particularly strong technical resources among the full-time DBAs.

In the future I might work more or less for Pythian depending on their needs and my own but I can say that I’m delighted that it doesn’t end there for now.

Oh, and rest assured, one of the nice things about working with Pythian is that I can, as always, say whatever I want to say without fear of being reigned-in by corporate needs!

A result, some might say 😉

When I decided to stop working with Pythian, I was particularly disappointed about a couple of things.
