{"id":1326,"date":"2007-10-03T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-10-03T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orcldoug.com\/blog\/?p=1326"},"modified":"2007-10-03T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-10-03T12:00:00","slug":"tomorrows-presentation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/orcldoug.com\/blog\/2007\/10\/03\/tomorrows-presentation\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrow&#8217;s Presentation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oh, well, perhaps you shouldn&#8217;t try a new presentation approach when you have less than a week to prepare it, you <strike>have a cold<\/strike> (sorry not meant to mention that) and you&#8217;re getting ready to go on holiday.<\/p>\n<p>I was really optimistic about how tomorrow&#8217;s presentation would go, because I like the material, until I ran through it tonight and realised it&#8217;s likely to take 15 minutes of a scheduled 45! It&#8217;s an unusual problem because normally people are trying to pack their material into the available time and I&#8217;m no different but, in an attempt to make it snappy and light, it just runs far too quickly. I have 74 slides and I still think it&#8217;ll take 15 minutes, which tells you something about the slides!<\/p>\n<p>In the end, I&#8217;ll just go with what I&#8217;ve got. In my experience, people might think less of you for having a short presentation but they really <i>hate<\/i> having to sit for longer than they were expecting. I suppose this way they&#8217;ll have time for an extra couple of coffees!<\/p>\n<p>Oh and I might play the pity card of being a last minute stand-in who saved the day!
