{"id":1348,"date":"2007-11-13T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-11-13T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orcldoug.com\/blog\/?p=1348"},"modified":"2007-11-13T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-11-13T12:00:00","slug":"the-monkey-shot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/orcldoug.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/13\/the-monkey-shot\/","title":{"rendered":"The Monkey Shot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OK, so I know I said Cuddly Toys wouldn&#8217;t be appearing on the Oracle blog any more, but in<a href=\"\/\"> the other place<\/a>, but this is directly related to the conference.<\/p>\n<p>It occurred to me as I was walking around the exhibition halls that I should try to use my influence as a blogger, which <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oracle.com\/otn\/2007\/11\/12#a1133\">appears to be significant these days<\/a>, to garner top quality swag. See, I don&#8217;t really need any expenses paid or meet company executives before I&#8217;ll say what someone wants me to say or advertise a company quite blatantly.<\/p>\n<p>All it really takes is a monkey!<\/p>\n<p>So, thanks to Maile Mulligan at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.remycorp.com\/\">Remy Corp<\/a> for supplying the little fella at the front here.<\/p>\n<p><!-- s9ymdb:154 --><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"336\" src=\"\/serendipity\/uploads\/monkey.jpg\" style=\"border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px\" width=\"448\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As for the chap at the back, I had to speak to two of SGI&#8217;s consultants before they&#8217;d let me have him (and that&#8217;s why they&#8217;re not getting a hyperlink!), but get this. He&#8217;s a catapult monkey that you catapult across the room as he lets out a scream that becomes more disturbing the second and third times you do it! When I let Mads and my wee sister know about him, they insisted I had to talk to those consultants.<\/p>\n<p>It took me a while to build up to it, so you owe me girls.<\/p>\n<p>Should any other exhibitors want me to mention them on the blog, please arrange for me to win your iPod Touch prize draw or just show me a better monkey.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for listening to this commercial presentation.<\/p>\n<p>P.S.
