The server that the site and blog is hosted on has been subject to some sort of hack attack and as a result it was moved to a new server and all privileges were locked down for a while, particularly on the blog directory<\/p>\n<p>One factor was probably that my Serendipity installation was fairly out of date &#8211; the punchline being that one of my Bank Holiday weekend tasks was to upgrade it. Too late, unfortunately &#128577;<\/p>\n<p>But, thanks to the efforts of <a href=\"http:\/\/hindsight.it\/sysadmin\/\">Mike Scott<\/a>, everything is back online and both blogs have been updated to the latest version of Serendipity.<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to Mike and if I can tear myself from my year-end accounts long enough, I might still have some time to reply to some comments and get the stats stuff moving again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some people might have noticed that the blog has been down a few times over the past week, particularly on Friday.
