Bearing in mind Howard&#8217;s blog about <a href=\"http:\/\/dizwell.com\/main\/component\/option,com_jd-wp\/Itemid,109\/p,132\/\">his personal feelings about presenting at a User Group event<\/a> (and it was obvious to me that he was talking about his personal feelings) and Tom Kyte&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/tkyte.blogspot.com\/2006\/03\/we-now-return-you-to-our-regularly.html\">mention of it in his blog today<\/a> (welcome back Tom, but please don&#8217;t ever take a day or two off again &#8211; people start to worry!), I thought I should advertise that the <a href=\"http:\/\/conference.ukoug.org\/\">UKOUG 2006 Call for Papers is open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As is hopefully clear from my comments to Howard&#8217;s blog, I&#8217;d like to see everyone who has something interesting to contribute or has thought about it in the past submit an abstract and see where it takes you. It is a user group event, after all, and I&#8217;m interested in hearing what other users are doing with and learning about Oracle. If everyone applies, we might even be able to avoid Moans Nogood, his kilt and those damned early morning bagpipes this year! (Actually, maybe I should be careful here, because I wouldn&#8217;t mind presenting there myself &#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Now, we just have to work out a way to convince Howard that everyone wants to meet him and hear him speak and organise enough of a whip-round to pay for his ludicrously expensive Business Class fare across the planet. I suppose I could sell my body to medical science but they&#8217;d probably want a refund. Alternatively, I have a set of printed <a href=\"http:\/\/oracledoug.blogspot.com\/2006\/03\/free-hotsos-materials-link-here.html\">Hotsos Symposium materials<\/a> that might fetch a pretty penny!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I received some timely mail when I arrived home today.
