Like Tom, we didn’t actually run the code on the machine we developed on – we used assemblers to compile the code and then it was downloaded to the Spectrum using a dedicated cable. In the main that meant running on bigger machines that shared the Z80 of the Sinclair machines, but sometimes we used cross-assemblers. All very neat and generally developed in-house. It was particularly exciting moving from the ZX81 at home to a Sage II at my first work-place.<\/p>\n
