For anyone who’s wondering what’s happened to that follow-up CBO blog, I’ve been glued to the settee for the past couple of days, ill again. That must be about the fifth or sixth bout of various flu variants in the past year. My theory is that my partner, who meets many delightful members of the public in her job at the airport, brings many of their delightful diseases home for me.
I just can’t be bothered doing anything during my few waking hours. I can’t even say I’m bored because I have plenty of things I could be doing …
Perhaps if you didn’t spend so much time having cigarette breaks in the now half enclosed bike shed you wouldn’t get the flu so much!
Just kidding! I hope you feel better. It has been a brutal flu season this year, I’ve had 3 or 4 doses of it myself. Sitting here huddled over the little electric heater I keep telling myself “summer is coming”. Repeat it often enough and I guess it will become true.
Get to a doctor quick. You live in Scotland. You are exposed to foreign bodies. This ‘flu’ may not be what it seems.

Don’t think I didn’t think of that 😉 But my super-fit friends seem to have taken their turn, too!

Ah, my 17th ‘clucking’ joke this week 😉
You need to just have a few days with a good bottle of Scotch and a few packs of cigarettes. The cigarettes will help you cough up anything that is congesting your lungs, and the scotch is just for fun. 😄
Hope you feel better soon, Doug.
Dallas man ….
You know, I’ve had five colds already this year – which is high even by my (post)viral standards, including a vicious one the week before last that had me off work and kept me spaced-out when I was back at work. I think that’s the one you’ve got this week…. And yeah, hypochondria doesn’t help with this epidemic in Fife – what have they been feeding their swans up there?
My advice for you – do as little as possible. (In fact, that holds good even when you don’t have a cold….)

I had a feeling you might turn up at the slightest mention of illness 😉

I bow to your greater experience of these matters.
Hi sir
Just want to say that take care of yours and get well soon.
best regards
Aman
It’s official, too much exposure to Oracle makes you sick ;)You’ve never been right since you accepted the invitation to join the Pine Table!
Bummer.
Get well soon Doug,
Paul
Thanks for all the good wishes. I’m feeling a bit better today so was back into work for a while. I didn’t quite manage the whole day and I was a bit spaced out, but it’s looking good 😉
I think that it’s times like this that one should tackle a redesign, recoding and test of the production backup and restore strategy, when one is inspired by fever and weakness and that slightly detached-from-reality feeling.
I encourage you to try it and provide feedback of the experience. It’d make an interesting white paper for sure 😄
Dave,
Thanks for that, I’ll see what my boss reckons. We use nifty EMC BCVs so that should make for an even more interesting experience.
Unless you call them ‘another set of mirrored disks’ I suppose 😉
