Thanks to Peter Scott for noticing that I appeared to be clogging up Orablogs with spam. I immediately assumed this was something to do with the new blog, but it’s actually at http://oracledoug.blogspot.com. When I go into my control panel, the blog is still there, but I can’t re-publish properly. So I reckon that means that Blogger have been hacked.
Apologies for any hassle and confusion but I’m pretty sure this is beyond my control, although I’ll be repointing my feedburner feed at the new blog. I’d been avoiding that until I’ve cutover properly …
I think I might know part of the reason for this. I had pointed the oracledoug.blogspot.com blog to publish at a new location so that I could extract the postings. Apparently, when I did that, someone has been able to grab oracledoug.blogspot.com and I’m unable to publish there any more :-

Doug, I had this same problem today. Someone hijacked my blogspot address during the two minutes I was publishing to an FTP server (to backup my site). I’m frustrated that blogger reassigned my blogspot address without my authorization. Were you ever able to get your address back?

Yes, I was able to get my blogspot url back but by then I was so disappointed by the whole incident that I just deserted it. Part of me wishes I hadn’t, but I’d had enough 🙁

I’ve tried publishing all sorts of places over the past couple of days but it’s not having it. Very frustrating indeed.

You choose Serendipity now as you blog engine. Did you find it better than WordPress? I was looking to move my blog to the host (via FTP publishing) but it kind of stinks now.
I was looking at WordPress recalling that you experimented with it.

To be honest, I only went with Serendipity because the guy who takes care of the hosting already uses it, but I planned to experiment with several engines and see how I get on.
Unfortunately, because of the spammer, I’ve had to get things up and running as best as I can as quick as I can, so it’s Serendipity for now, but I might find others.
At the moment, apart from the usual formatting problems, I’m finding Serendipity very nice to work with.

Well, IMHO author of the blog should control the way it looks like since it’s his personal place on the web. Personally, I would rather prefer to control myself how others see my blog. But as we say “no friends in taste and colour”.
I remeber you was playing with WordPress so I had a look at it and migrated to test. Looks good so far. I am experimenting how to redirect the links from old posts on Blogger and so far it looks promising.
