Well, only one new blog really.
Stephen Barr is a guy who I’ve been dealing with at work. He’s a Data Warehouse specialist, part DBA, part designer, part developer. (There’s a blog coming some time soon on the various Oracle roles in the modern business.) He’s a contractor, too and we’ll be going in our own different directions soon, but it’s been a pleasure working with him for a couple of months.
Anyway, Stephen has a nice site with some very interesting papers based on hard-earned experience. Ignore the pretty front-page and go for the links. User contributions to the DW field are a bit thin on the ground, and more material is always welcome.
He also has a blog, which is well worth a visit and I’ve added a link in the list on the right here.
Next there are a couple of changes to existing blogs. Both David Aldridge and Tim Hall have moved their blogs off Blogger. Dave is using WordPress.com and Tim is hosting it himself (but using WordPress too). Both are always worth a visit and both are looking pretty nice these days.
Finally, having praised Serendipity in my last post, one source of minor annoyance is that clicking the blog links in the right hand pane here opens them in a new browser window. I’d like to change this default behaviour and, although I haven’t investigated it in any depth, if anyone knows the answer, feel free to leave a comment. (By the way – right-click the link – doesn’t count. I know I can do that, I’d just like to change the default ‘open’ behaviour)
