Apologies to anyone who is waiting for a reply to an email they’ve sent me, but I’ve been experiencing fairly severe problems with Yahoo mail over the past couple of days. The first signs were a couple of consecutive evenings when my mailbox was constantly busy so I couldn’t retrieve mail. Then no mail arrived for almost the whole of yesterday (including no spam, which is a sure sign I’m not receiving mail!)
Eventually I started receiving a trickle of mail messages, some over 12 hours old.
I’ve used Yahoo mail for years and have been more than satisified with it. It’s unusual to see problems like this and I wonder whether they aren’t struggling with additional mail volumes because of Windows Worms?
Is anyone else having Yahoo mail problems?

I’m always loathe to change email providers or mobile phone numbers because recruitment agents use them to get hold of me.
I’m also a bit of a technical luddite … If something does the job (normally anyway) then why bother changing?
I too have had problems receiving yahoo mail particulrly from overseas where I have friends and family in England.
It seems an awful lot of messages are being returned as undeliverable even though my e-mail address is correct and I have no storage issues because I do not leave copies of my messages on their servers.
For the last week I can’t EMail ANY Yahoo recipient in my address book, although they are all family/friends. I can’t even send an EMail from my Netcom EMail address to my Yahoo Email address! It simply never arrives at my Yahoo mailbox, and no error message is ever rec’d. In most other cases I get error message back, and eventually the automatic retrys time out and the message is returned.
I suspect it is new/inaccurate spam filtering at Yahoo, but can’t find any way to EMail anybody there to report the problem!!!!
What pisses me off is that when there is a problem i am not informed. So I start to check if its a problem with my firewall, virus scanner etc. Then when i went through it all I find that the problem is with Yahoo. Don’t wanna change cos it usually does its job. But if it gets worse I’m off.

major problems with yahoo over the past year. intermittent sending and receiving problems. bounced messages and delayed emails (sometimes several days). ridiculous responses from them in reply to my email problems. i’ve switched and am never going back, even though it meant several hours of setting up new acct, reentering email addresses, etc.

The problem I have is that I can access my mail folder, but cannot open the folder. Since I can’t access the mail, I won’t be able to access your reply. I guess this is what is known as a conundrum.

yahoo has really messed everybody in the world….you cant tell what has happened to i. they bettter be serious. since they they introduced BETA which never turned to be BETTER, thus when all this atrarted.
I have had many problems with yahoo mail, yahoo finance and even yahoo’s main website over the past year. Often both sites will just return the normal “page not found” error. Also, imagine typing in “www.yahoo.com” in Internet Explorer and getting the message “we cant find http://www.yahoo.com” ! This never happens with Google. I think Yahoo is having serious technical or capacity problems. It’s a symptom of a badly-run company – no wonder Yahoo’s profits and market share are down compared to Google.
I too am having problems and can’t get anything yahoo related on my computer. It was fine last night, but nothing at all today(9-25). At first I thought something was screwed up with my settings until I read this post.
I think it’s intermittent and depending on the bit of the architecture you’re using. I haven’t had any problems for a while now ….
I cannot seem to be able to click any links on the yahoo page. I cant get into my mail and its been almost a week now. No active x controls come up to download and I have gone through all the security methods i can think of. Can you help me figure this out? Its so frustrating

Hi All Yahoo Users who’ve been having recent email problems (2006),
I’ve also encountered slowness, error pages, bounced emails that I’ve sent out to valid addresses (friends, so I know!) and they’ve also in turn said that my email address has bounced back at them.
What’s going on with Yahoo these days? I’ve had my Yahoo email and been a premium subscriber for the past 4 years or so. I’ve basically been happy until these past few months.
I thought maybe they were being weird because I gave them negative feedback on their BETA version, which I’ve opted not to use. I like my “old” email box better!
I’ve actually emailed Yahoo’s customer service. I pay $19.99 for their premium service. I googled “2006 Problems with Yahoo Mail” hoping to get some answers and found you guys! LOL Actually, that you all have been having problems too helps me out a lot! So thank you. It’s nice to know I’m not the Lone Ranger.

I haven’t called it yet as I’ve received a couple of email messages…which seemed pretty canned to me. They are pretty impenetrable. They’ve sent me a couple of Customer Satisfaction Surveys over this and I’ve slammed them. If I call I want to be helped but I cringe at the the thought as it all seems so anonymous to me.

I have had problems all day sending using outlook 2003, If i am on the DSL line it works but if I use the T1 and c at my office and comcast at home it does not. All of this worked last night, but sbc says its not their problem

Last Thursday November 2 I signed my dad up for Yahoo mail on a computer other than my own and I noticed Yahoo was very slow and sluggish. Of course, it could have been the computer we were on, but it’s been acting like that on my computer too.

hi Doug. just to let u know i have been having log in problems the past few weeks. i get logged on ok. and 2 seconds later it tells me to relog in as my time has expired. can’t fig. that one. also seems to be running slow as usual. not the computers fault this time. p.s. when i went to submit this i got a screen flash : yahoo mail problems do u know what that means?

Today I tried to log into my Yahoo email.
It said ‘wrong password’ tried 3 times knowing the password was CORRECT. Then I said, I’ll just go with ‘forgot password’ in case I am wrong. When I sent all the CORRECT info I got a TOS page said Account Closed. Which is crazy because I only write my sister on AOL and we exchanged cookie recipes. I have a LLBean sale notice and a Kitaro Newsletter. That is it! I don’t gamble, view porn, nothing questionable. I had the account about 3 months only got 2 spams in that time. WHY would they close my account!? Now I went to my other yahoo account that I had for over a year and it started again! Wrong Password, type in the security code..same story but I stopped before the password lookup that I might get a closed account message! I wrote Yahoo through my internet provider address I got a canned response on Password errors. WHAT is going on with Yahoo?

I’m having a lot of issues with Yahoo Mail loading… many ‘cannot find server’ I have a suspicion that it’s related to wireless vs. cat 5. I do not have any issues when wired in my home but these weird Yahoo issue show up on my wireless connection (as I write this 11.o Mbps). Everything else works fine with my wireless connection.
I’m experiencing similar issues with my hotmail Email connection.
For the record, I only had a couple of slow days mail when I wrote this blog and no problems since but note that I pay for my Yahoo mail account.
I’ll keep approving relevant comments because people are obviously having quite a few problems.
Doug I pay for my Yahoo account too and last night was positively the worst it’s been for me! I also am on Comcast cable so it’s not anything to do with a wireless connection.
I was going to contact them today ont their customer service number but just don’t feel like going thru the hassle. I did notice that this morning it popped up very quickly and I got access to my mail account right away, no error messages for a change!!
It’s strange because I’m having no problems at all but they’re obviously having some serious problems in parts of the service. It’s a shame, because I’ve always thought highly of Yahoo’s service
Im having MAJOR problems with yahoo. I have 3 accounts with them, and all 3 are totally corrupt upon login. Im going to go nuts without my email.
Just to add a comment here, I logged into Yahoo! mail this morning to find a conspicuous absence of about three weeks of mail, from the end of October to this last weekend. I also noticed that I don’t seem to be getting much mail now and when I sent two test emails from my Gmail account today, neither one has been delivered.
I am a paying customer of Yahoo! Plus and have been for a couple years, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. However, I have very high standards for pay services, so I feel confident that I will be cancelling my account and moving all my mail to Gmail in the very near future.
One last note, I was surprised when I called Yahoo’s support line and I actually spoke to a very polite and competent woman who told me that others had experienced a loss of email and that they are escalating my issue to engineering. I’m not holding my breath at this point, but it sounds hopeful that they will fix the problem.

That’s very bad news. The reason I stuck with Yahoo is the poor service I received from the likes of Hotmail, Visto and others.
I am on Rogers/yahoo webmail. it has always been slow, and now i cannot send attachments, it just says ‘scanning and attaching’ and a little circular arrow spins but it never gets attached! I left it for several hours, came back, same thing. this happens on every computer i use, I’m switching to gmail
same problem slow opening e.mails -they just hang. then i get logged off -then the page i am working now suddenly disappears. 90% of the time they can’t find what you are asking or searching for even real simple requests they should have the answers or web pages at there finger tips. Google can find instantly why can’t yahoo. i think they need a major overhall starting from the pres. down.

For the past three days, I can sign into my account on yahoomail, but then I cannot access the Inbox, nor compose an email, nothing. It looks like it is trying to retrieve the Inbox but goes nowhere. The answer that #16 above rcvd from customer service about not having a solution until January 1is totally ridiculous in an age of 24-hour debugging turnaround, this company deserves to die an ugly and early death.
same problem – today, 12/29/06, I can sign in to My Yahoo but it keeps going back to login page with a blank password line when I try to reach the email. Especially frustrating as it’s a paid email account and I just recently left my ISP and sent new yahoo address to family and friends.

Oh, yeah, I’ve been having trouble for most of December and it’s not the first time. I can compose and send. Can’t reply, move, forward, spell-check, auto-fill addresses and all of my draft messages show up blank. Like I said, not the first time I’ve dealt with issues like this. Yahoo always tells me it’s my problem — my computer or software — and yet, suddenly, miraculously — everything goes back to normal again. Until the next time.
I have been able to reply to my mial by going in to hhtp://wap.ao.yahoo.com/ its only a temp. help for emergencies. hope it helps.

Recently I have been having problems with both of my yahoo accounts. One lost about two months of mail from its inbox about a weekago. Got nothing but blow off/get lost/we have no problems type of answers over several days from several yahoo persons.
Now today (11 March 07) I cannot access the second account at all, at other times I cannot get into yahoo mail at all and on rare occasions have been able to enter the account that had the lost mail problem.
I just opened a GMail acocunt. My initial impression is that GMail is much better and easier to use with more rapid (faster) response than Yahoo.

Yahoo won’t allow me to “read” my mail – I get the downloaded mail – but can’t open them to read them…and Outlook can’t seem to retrieve them either !

Try accessing through this site http://us.m.yahoo.com/ Worked for me. Also clicking on ‘save message text at the bottom of the email and then clicking ‘open’ lets you read your email.

Yes, I am having lots of problems with yahoo too. This days the server doesn’t connect and it is too slow… a pain. I have used yahoo for years now and I used to pay the $10 for the POP service. I think they should provide that service for free. I opened an account in Gmail but I don’t like that you can’t have folders and the emails become a mess….
Awful, the only good thing is that you can use the POP and use outlook.

I am not able to access my yahoo mail from office for some reason. the page never loads in either IE or in FireFox. I am only able to access it from home.

hey try looking at your mail in the old type of yahoo mail. it wasnt letting me read them in the new one but it let me in the old one. hope this helps! =]
having a major issue trying to attach documents to emails in yahoo beta. just tells me its ‘scanning and attaching’, but never makes the attachment. everything else works fine. (ie sending recieving emails). Anyone having/had the same problem??? Anyone got solutions? … think I’ve tried everything – tried different browsers, different forms of attachment, different sizes, turning Norton off, going back to IE6, etc. Only trying to attach 50kb excel/word documents. Am at tethers end!!!!

Hi, am having problems accessing/sending email via yahoo. I cannot log in as everytime I enter my password and id there is no response. Iam loging in via celtel zambia mobile internet.

i had the automatic refresh issue on the Yahoo mail login page which prevented me from logging in. On the same tab in IE7 i was able to do regular browsing.
Since no spyware was found, i did this…
In Internet explorer,
Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites
Added https://login.yahoo.com and the problem is gone.
It was simple certificate problem….i read sometime back that yahoo was pushing for a different type of security authentication system which many software vendors (in this instance, Microsoft) doesn’t support…this issue might be because of that…

hello! i’m unable to log in to my yahoo mail at all today. this is the first time it’s happened to me, so scanning the comments i feel pretty lucky. the problem seems to be with the mail servers, as the home page loads quickly. interestingly enough, flickr is having some problems supporting its formatting. happy postiversary…
I have been a yahoo user for about a year now with no issues, but for the past 2 days, I have been unable to access yahoo mail. My yahoo page comes up, and pretty much all the other applications are working, included are how many new emails I have, but when I click on mail, or sign in, or verify password, it just times out and I get the dreaded “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”. Is this about the same thing that everybody else is experiencing also?

I cannot send emails from my new yahoo account to other yahoo email users – I can email other people that don’t have yahoo accounts and I can email from my very old yahoo account just fine. It’s driving me crazy because I don’t want to change my email address again – the only reason I got a yahoo address was because of the stupid iphone – when I got my phone the apple geek said it would be in my best interest to switch from hotmail to yahoo. Is anyone else having this problem? And if so, any suggestions?
For what it’s worth, I’m not having any specific problems at the moment but I have in the past and clearly Yahoo has become unreliable for some of the people some of the time.
I’ve not been able to check my emails now for 3/4 days as yahoo is acting up. Yesterday I was still able to sign in but when opening msg’s I only got the subject line and email address… email was nowhere to be seen… Today… can’t even sign in, page not found… what!!! Yahoo not found?!? What on earth is going on with them??? Sent them an email… ha ha can’t even sign in to read their email reply now, so much use that is!! I think I’ll be switching very soon if this carries on, I live abroad and need to keep in touch with friends and family… gmail here we come! I see that people have been having these problems from as far back as November 2006… wonder whether anyone else has been having these problems recently?? Today 25th of August 2007, nearly a year on… they’ve improved a lot then?!?
well, I’ve been a yahoo email user for 6 years. today, I have encountered the same type of problem. what gets me is that when I contacted yahoo’s tech support explaining that my browser / OS are supported (gave them the version numbers), that something they are doing is causing this problem. the tech support guy responded by asking to me make sure my browsers are supported. clearly, they messed up seriously on some configurations with regard to yahoo beta. But this problem is intermitten. I have friends who can log in fine from a diff location. it’s very troubling.

Last couple of days – at least – a248.e.akamai.net is dead and this appears to be an integral part of Yahoo’s services.
Hope this is resolved soon. This is a good way to loose longtime customers.
This appears to be tracable to multiple sites from akamai.net not being functional.
News.bbc.co.uk uses newsimg.bbc.co.uk which is in fact a1733.g.akamai.net

For the past year I’ve been having problems receiving mail with attachments from Yahoo clients in the South Pacific: most notably from the Philippines and Indonesia. Our associates out there are sending me attachments, usually jpg or pdf files.
What happens is that the email arrives in my inbox (Outlook 2002) with no subject information, and no sender address–just blanked out. But there’s worse: the attachment files are converted into huge blocks of ASCII code and merged into the body of the email
I have received the data intact by accessing my email box directly within the ISP site, but when I download it–the data corrupts. So it has to be something in my Outlook, but damned if I can figure it out and trying to get support from Microsoft without a $100,000 unlimited Visa account is as tough as trying to contact somebody in Yahoo. If you can put me in touch with anyone…either @ microsoft or Yahoo to discuss this with–I’d appreciate it. Meanwhile, I’m advising my associates to move from Yahoo to a local account.

I’ve had my Yahoo id for the past 8-9 years. A few years ago, I switched my isp to Rogers, and my Yahoo id was integrated with a Rogers account. Last month, I cancelled my Rogers internet. Since then, every time I try logging into Yahoo services using my Yahoo ID, it takes me to a Rogers page saying that my Rogers account is cancelled, but I can continue using mail, address book, etc. using my Yahoo id. Then it gives me a Continue button. Once I press that, it takes me to another page saying Yahoo Premium Services will be kept as they are if I subscribe to them. then it says “Visit my personalized Yahoo page”. When I click that it takes me to a MY Yahoo login page, which is not personalized. When I fill up my info, I get cycled back to the Rogers page. I contacted Yahoo support, they asked me to fax my id etc with authorization to access my account. I faxed all information, but two weeks gone by, the problem still persists and I haven’t heard from them. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? I’ve tried to reset my brower settings, etc but nothing has changed.

I’ve been using Yahoo mail for the last 6 years and I’ve been very happy. Unlike many people, I actually liked the Beta version and stuck with it. Today I got a session timeout message and when I tried signing back in, it gave me a password error. I tried retrieving the password but the message I got was that my account has been deactivated based on some violation of the TOS!
I emailed them and then also called Yahoo customer support. I spoke to 3 different agents who tried to help me in every way possible but they could not since it’s a supposed violation of the TOS!
So now I’m waiting for a response from reportabuse@cc.yahoo-inc.com.
