OOW2009 – Pictures

Thanks to Marco’s OOW 2009 Photo Stream, here are a few pictures from my Unconference Presentation :-

I have to thank Boneist for this line she sent me in an email not long before the presentation. It seemed somehow appropriate. Yes, I know I missed an umlaut – I was in a hurry.

There’s a story behind the next photo. I have been known to be so positive and excitable when discussing the OEM Performance Pages that I thought I should tone down the overall effect by wearing ….

A SQL Server T-Shirt 😉 There were various guerilla marketing crowds outside Moscone West this year and a woman had thrust a goodie bag in my hand. I accepted it before I knew what was in there, honestly! But in came in handy although I doubt I’ll be wearing it again.

I think my presentation may have sent a few people to sleep – a few eyes certainly glazed over ….

… and finally, a couple from the final day of the Oracle Closed World conference.

A shameless Media Type Greg Rahn doesn’t allow people’s lunch to get in the way of him talking about DW performance or Exadata or something. I wasn’t in the room at the time, but you can see a rather more shy Flatcat off to the right.

But here is the photo that I absolutely demanded Marco take at some point. As regular OOW visitors will be aware, people have a variety of ribbons attached to the bottom of their badge holder representing various groups, affiliations and extra conference registrations. As I pointed out to Marco, there is a well-known syndrome of men perhaps compensating for their inadequacies when purchasing long, flashy sports cars. For some reason, this popped into my head when I first saw Marco’s ribbons.

Trying to compensate for something, Marco? I think we should be told. LOL

Then again, as Boneist pointed out – ‘What is it with you guys and your ribbons? Do you need to tie your hair up or something?’
