In spite of the tone of some of the comments on my previous blog, the tragic bear incident was absolutely nothing to do with me. I made it clear that he was hanging from the ceiling when I turned up to work.
Fortunately, Paolo in the office suggested that we get him down and treat him with as much respect as possible in a busy office. Alex helped out, too, but I suspect he may have been driven by guilt!!
For those who have enquired about the bear, one of the sys admins won him in a raffle and he’s been hanging around since. I think his close association with the Unix boys may have inspired a fit of jealousy from one of the DBAs.
RIP Bear.
