Well, after a power cut in Central Birmingham that delayed the start of the conference by about an hour, things are moving along nicely. The presentations that I’ve attended so far are :-
Tom Kyte’s SQL techniques. As excellent as I expected and I preferred Tom’s presentation technique to last years keynote that he delivered. I think the fact that this is Tom’s bread-and-butter subject (with so many of the asktom.oracle.com questions being SQL-related) came through in the passion of his delivery.
There was hardly any time for lunch before the first of Jonathan Lewis’ CBO presentations. Although the content in this one was hardly new to me, it was great listening to Jonathan (as usual) and, if anything, I think he’s refined his messages to give them more focus.
Then more Tom, which was unexpected as he’s standing in for Lex de Haan, who couldn’t make it. More excellent presentation skills on display and flashback features are always good for a demo or two and a few pointed jokes.
I’m having a short break just now, then a top secret meeting with Mogens 😉
More on that later.
