Solaris 10 and Oracle 10g

Well that was an interesting if not too productive weekend. I’d been keen to install Solaris 10 on the ISP4400, which went very well. These things are always time-consuming but I was interleaving it with normal human activity to make up for my recent mental absence from those around me. So it was a lift… Continue reading Solaris 10 and Oracle 10g

Old Classics

While out shopping yesterday, I noticed this for 10, which was a no-brainer. It’s the best tenner I’ve spent in a long, long time and the only down-side is the two of us having to prise ourselves away from it long enough to make food, eat, sleep etc … Although many of the games work… Continue reading Old Classics

Tom Kyte’s Hotsos Photos

Very true and very appropriate to my recent work. Perhaps the questioner should take the number 1.53215 and display… Continue reading Benchmarking

Lucky Escape

When I left for the US, Edinburgh was covered in snow. It returned yesterday to the extent that Edinburgh airport was closed for a while. The Continental flight in from New York was diverted to Belfast. Now that would have been fun 🙁

Hotsos 2006 Photos

Many thanks to David Kurtz for taking photos of a much higher quality than mine and putting them on Flickr. There are some funny photos there, including a couple of Moans Nogood helping me to distribute free beer but, judging by later photos, he appears to have consumed it all himself 😉 (Please, please don’t… Continue reading Hotsos 2006 Photos
