Welcome to oracledoug.com

The primary purpose of this site was always to distribute various Oracle-related papers I’ve written and presented at User Group conferences over the years. Alongside those you’ll find book recommendations, my CV, and — for the real action — a couple of ZX Spectrum games I wrote in a previous life, now playable again straight in your browser.

This is the resurrected archive of the old site, rebuilt from the ground up. Everything below is back online:

  • Technical Papers — Oracle white papers and conference presentations (Parallel Execution, CASE, Decode, WAP, optimizer statistics and more).
  • Books — a personal selection of the Oracle books actuallx worth your time.
  • CV — professional background, with the full document to download.
  • Fun & GamesPing Pong and Hypaball, playable in-browser via a modern ZX Spectrum emulator.

The blogs

The site was home to two Serendipity blogs, both fully recovered and archived here:

  • Oracle blog — the original oracledoug.com/serendipity blog: hundreds of posts on Oracle, with the original comments.
  • Personal blog — the old oracledoug.com/blog: more personal writing, also with its comments.

If you have any comments about the site, positive or negative, please mail me. It’s a nice feeling when people surf in from around the world and find what they’re looking for.
