The more observant among you will have noticed that Derek Jr. has taken temporary leave, to be replaced by my ugly mug again. It must mean that there’s a conference coming up.
I’ll be presenting the Parallel Execution Slaves paper at the UKOUG Northern Server Technology Day this Thursday. I might change one or two things slightly, but I reckon it makes more sense to just do what I did at the Hotsos Symposium, for those who couldn’t just pop over to Dallas 😉 I still say it’s a hard paper to present, because I can only really give a flavour of it, but we’ll see how it goes. I’ve only got a 45 minute slot, so it might be a bit frantic.
(Actually, I just had a thought. For anyone who attended the session in Dallas – let me know what I could have done to improve it and I might still have time to make some changes)
At least there’ll be more opportunity to answer any questions than normal because there’ll be a dedicated PX table at lunch, for those who want to discuss things in a bit more depth. I’ve sat on one of these in the past at the Unix SIG and it certainly increases the user community feel to an event, so I’m quite a fan. Of course, it means that I need to time cigarette breaks, lunch and conversation, but I’ll do my best. (I might slip out of the last pre-lunch presentation a bit early!)
I’m travelling down tomorrow so that I can spend the evening talking to Jeff Moss about PX and Lisa Dobson can throw her drink over me (at least I think it’s that way round). I think I’ve probably promised Pete Finnigan an argument about security researchers too, but I’ll probably just hide in the toilets 😉
I’m looking forward to it.
“and Lisa Dobson can throw her drink over me”
Well, it’s nice to see my reputation goes before me!

A welcome change if only because the weird turtle photo is almost a megabyte and takes a noticeable time to display even on broadband.
What ‘weird turtle photo’?
Do you mean Derek Junior?!
Wasn’t there some sort of soft toy photo before? Anyway it was about 900KB.
